WACO, Texas — JCFilms Studios has officially completed the first round of production on its upcoming faith-and-family feature film, Dinger Disciples, following an unforgettable week of filming in Waco, Texas. The production blended Hollywood filmmaking with a real-life ministry that impacted hundreds of young athletes and their families.
Inspired by the true story of the Dinger Disciples baseball ministry, the film follows a group of volunteers who discover that baseball is more than a game—it's a platform to share hope, build relationships, and introduce young people to Jesus Christ. As a small community outreach grows beyond anyone's expectations, lives are transformed both on and off the field.
Starring Dean Cain, best known for his role as Superman in Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Jonathan Lucroy, a two-time Major League Baseball All-Star and former World Series champion, and former Major League Baseball All-Star Aubrey Huff, Dinger Disciples brings together professional athletes, actors, and everyday families to tell a story rooted in faith, redemption, and America's pastime.
During the week-long Dinger Disciples baseball camp, more than 70 young people publicly declared their faith in Jesus Christ through baptism. The baptisms took place at the ballpark where campers had spent the week learning baseball fundamentals alongside lessons about faith, purpose, and God's love.
"For us, the movie is important, but the ministry is even greater," said Jason Campbell, President of JCFilms Studios. "Watching over 70 young people make the decision to follow Christ reminded every person on set why we're telling this story. Those are moments that no script could ever write."
Throughout production, campers had the opportunity to interact with Dean Cain, Jonathan Lucroy, Aubrey Huff, and the film's cast while experiencing a unique blend of filmmaking, baseball instruction, and Christian discipleship. Cameras captured many authentic moments from the camp, adding a level of realism that reflects the heart of the Dinger Disciples ministry.
The Waco production marks only the beginning of the film's journey.
Additional filming is scheduled for Dallas, Texas, followed by production in Bridgeport, West Virginia, where more scenes will complete the inspiring story before the film enters post-production.
"Dinger Disciples is about far more than baseball," Campbell added. "It's about fathers and sons, mentors and coaches, second chances, and discovering that the greatest victory isn't hitting a home run—it's finding hope in Christ."
JCFilms Studios extends its heartfelt gratitude to every volunteer, camper, family, sponsor, church partner, and community member who helped make the Waco production an overwhelming success. Their dedication made it possible to capture not only a compelling feature film, but also the incredible impact of a ministry that continues to change lives.
Dinger Disciples is expected to continue filming later this year, with release information to be announced following the completion of production.
