Since 2013, JCFilms has tackled dozens of social issues in their faith-inspired films. Now, the filmmakers are aiming their social radar on the topic of suicide. Jason Campbell, from JCFilms explains, “the facts are staggering. Nearly 800,000 people this year will die of suicide, and suicide is now the 2nd leading cause of death in the world for those aged 15-24 years. It’s time we make this movie.”
The film has been titled THE BRIDGE, and is inspired by actual events that depict how a tragedy can reflect the problems people are not willing to talk about. However, the film is so much more than just suicide.
Campbell explains, “It’s an emotional religious experience that deals with human loss, grief, and recovery. From a group of teens obsessed with witchcraft to adults with psychological meltdowns, the film will cover a multitude of aspects concerning suicide.
The film’s purpose is to explore the root cause of our suicide epidemic by presenting to the audience well etched characters and spellbinding performances. “It’s an uncomfortable subject, but we want to ensure that it’s not something that you can easily look away from,” Campbell explained.
Casting begins for the film in late July and will be filmed in Bridgeport, WV.
