BRIDGEPORT, WV — In a move that experts are calling “either inspiring or mildly concerning,” a group of pickleball enthusiasts has decided to single-handedly rescue their community from boredom, city bureaucracy, and weak backhands in the new comedy film Pickleball Pete.
The film tells the story of a small town whose city council refuses to build pickleball courts, claiming the budget must first be spent on “essential services,” such as repainting parking lot lines and buying more folding chairs. In response, a scrappy, mismatched group of local players, including retirees with knee braces, a man who thinks he’s training for the Olympics, and that one lady who brings orange slices to every match bands together to enter a high-stakes South Florida tournament with a $50,000 grand prize.
“We wanted to make a film that captures the drama, intensity, and frequent confusion of pickleball,” said one of the filmmakers, moments before being shushed by a doubles partner yelling, “Kitchen violation!”
A Cast That’s Ready to Rally
Starring Chad Ridgely, Carmelita Hughes, Dean Cain, and Kevin Sorbo, Pickleball Pete promises to deliver everything a great sports movie should: inspirational speeches, montage sequences involving questionable fashion choices, and slow-motion shots of balls bouncing dramatically.
Kevin Sorbo reportedly trained for “up to fifteen minutes” to perfect his pickleball skills for the role, while Dean Cain spent most of his prep time working on his victory fist pump. “It’s about heart,” Cain allegedly said. “And also about avoiding shoulder injuries.”
A Mission Bigger Than the Game
“This isn’t just about pickleball,” said one character in the film. “It’s about bringing a community together… and also finally proving to my HOA that we deserve more than shuffleboard.”
The film’s plot culminates in an epic tournament showdown where mis-hits, bad line calls, and a suspiciously long pep talk threaten to derail the team’s shot at victory.
Coming Soon
Critics are already calling Pickleball Pete “the most dramatic sports movie involving a wiffle ball ever made,” and pickleball leagues nationwide are reportedly preparing for a wave of enthusiastic but poorly coordinated newcomers.
So grab your paddles, tighten those wristbands, and get ready for Pickleball Pete, the comedy that proves sometimes the biggest wins come with the smallest plastic balls.
