WILLIAMSTOWN, KY — What happens when teenagers from across America are challenged to tell stories that matter?
JCFilms Studios is set to answer that question with The Great Story Challenge, an inspiring new faith-and-family feature film starring Kevin Sorbo. Developed through JCFilms' National Christian Film Camp in Northern Kentucky, the project combines hands-on filmmaking education with an inspiring story about faith, friendship, and discovering God's purpose.
The film follows dozens of young filmmakers who gather for an unforgettable week of storytelling, faith, and adventure. Working together in production teams, the students are challenged to create original short films inspired by their experiences throughout the week, including educational visits to the world-famous Ark Encounter and Creation Museum. Along the way, friendships are formed, lives are changed, and the campers discover that the greatest story they will ever tell may be the one God is writing in their own lives.
The Great Story Challenge blends scripted storytelling with the authentic excitement of a real filmmaking camp, giving students the opportunity to learn screenwriting, directing, acting, cinematography, editing, and production while participating in the creation of a feature film.
"This project is about much more than making a movie," said Jason Campbell, President of JCFilms Studios. "It's about empowering the next generation of Christian storytellers. We want young people to understand that their voice matters, their story matters, and that God can use creativity to impact the world."
Throughout the week, campers will participate in hands-on workshops, worship services, acting classes, filmmaking challenges, and educational experiences at the Ark Encounter and Creation Museum while working alongside industry professionals to develop and produce original stories.
Kevin Sorbo, known to audiences around the world for Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and dozens of faith-based feature films, will star in The Great Story Challenge while mentoring students throughout the camp experience.
"Stories have the power to change lives," Campbell said. "The next generation of Christian filmmakers is already here, and projects like this help equip them to tell stories that inspire, encourage, and make an eternal impact."
At the conclusion of camp, participants will premiere the films they created during a special red-carpet screening, celebrating a week of creativity, teamwork, and faith.
Production of The Great Story Challenge is scheduled for Summer 2026 and will feature young actors and filmmakers from across the United States.
