Weston, WV — JCFilms Studios is proud to announce the upcoming release of its newest faith and family feature film, The Great Bank Robbery That Created West Virginia, a film that not only tells a fascinating untold story, but shines a spotlight on what truly makes West Virginia special: its people.
While most know that West Virginia was born out of the Civil War, few have ever heard the story behind how it was funded - through money taken from a Weston, West Virginia bank in 1861. But this film goes far beyond history. At its core, it is a story about community, connection, and the spirit of a state unlike any other.
The film follows British heiress Caroline Andrews, who travels to Weston, West Virginia, to reclaim her family’s fortune. What she finds instead is something far greater, a place where neighbors show up, where strangers become family, and where the beauty of the land is only matched by the kindness of its people.
Starring Dean Cain, known for Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, alongside Jana Lee Hamblin of The West Wing, and JCFilms regular Michael Sigler, the film captures the warmth, faith, and resilience that define the Mountain State.
From the rolling hills and winding country roads to the front porches, churches, and close-knit towns, The Great Bank Robbery That Created West Virginia celebrates a way of life rooted in faith, family, and genuine care for one another.
“This film is about more than history, it’s about the heart of West Virginia,” said Jason Campbell. “It’s about a place where people still look out for each other, where community matters, and where the beauty isn’t just in the mountains, it’s in the people.”
Local leaders share that same pride.
“West Virginia is one of the most special places in the country because of its people,” said Agnes Queen. “This film captures that spirit, the kindness, the strength, and the sense of community that makes you feel at home the moment you arrive.”
Filmed entirely in Lewis County and surrounding areas, the production brought together local families, churches, and businesses, reflecting the very message the film delivers: that West Virginia isn’t just a place—it’s a community.
As the film prepares for release, The Great Bank Robbery That Created West Virginia stands as a love letter to the Mountain State, reminding audiences everywhere that while history may be written in books, the true story of West Virginia is written in the lives, relationships, and hearts of its people.
